What's good people??How was the weekend and how is the week going so far?I think I'm ready to start doing videos now even though I was supposed to get a backdrop for my YouTube videos which I've not been able to get but I just might do a video this week so don't forget to subscribe HERE so you're notified first hand when I post.

I finally gave up.If you've been with me for a while you'll know I've been talking about stopping exclusive breastfeeding and I was really fighting it like hell.A week ago I gave in and I started Ella with formula. She was about 5 months and some days then.I really stopped because she obviously wasn't getting enough-quantity wise and you can imagine when my mum of all people, the no 1 exclusive breastfeeding supporter supported my decision to supplement with other things you know the hunger was real. It's been bliss and still takes a lot of getting used to.I'm finding it hard to work a feeding schedule plus my boobs are engorged during the day especially at night because she sleeps all through.

The good thing about it is I can wear anything I want out unlike before when I wore things that will give her easy access to the boobs and then I will have to consider not being half naked as well. The downside for me is I hate diaper bags especially now that I have to carry a hot water flask, milk, some cereal, cool water, bib, extra clothes, diapers, vaseline and so on.Another thing is with me having OCD  I always feel I'm not handling her feeding things well enough.I sterilize and almost want to sterilize the whole house including the ground I'm walking on .NOTE: this is not a joke! The anxiety that comes with being like this is not fun at all.

The first cooked semi-solid I started her with was mashed sweet potatoes. She has also had mashed bananas. We are still playing with texture and I will also do color with carrots and avocado which I will probably do today.I'm also thinking of including guinea corn and soya to her diet.I've never done that so I'm still going to do my research before I buy. With Grace we went from breast-milk to cereal full time and fruits before we started doing solid foods.

I found this cereal in a Just-rite superstore and got it along side NAN milk. She loves it and she eats it so well.I wanted to give her Aptamil milk because I heard it's really good but I haven't heard bad things about this one. What even happened was the first time Iwent to buy her milk I mistakenly picked up the Pre-Nan which is the one for Premature babies up till they're 6 months I think.I did not realize till I got home and took a photo to post on Snapchat which is @cheecheelive btw.It was while I was putting filters on the photos I saw where it was written for low-birth weight children.I used the speed of light to delete the photo the settled down to go through it.It was so annoying because I had thrown out the receipt at the store even though I hadn't opened it yet I couldn't return it. I tried to exchange it at a baby store whose owner my mum knew but she said people did not buy it often so it's sitting somewhere in my house.I don't know what to do with it.

This was when I made her mashed sweet potato.I filmed a video but I don't like how dark it was when I was feeding her.The process of preparing it came out fine.I'm not sure yet if I will be posting it even though I got her reaction on camera.

So far I've been doing cereal once a day because it helps her poo come out easier and softer, milk and breast milk every 3-4 hours and then a mashed fruit once in 2 days.We are trying mashed carrots for the first time today.Let's see how that goes.

What's been up with you and if you have a baby what did you start feeding them with when you started weaning them off breastmilk?

    1. You should o! Make your research so nobody confuses you because there will be many opinions. God bless!

  2. Awww look at her cute lips!
I know that feeling of relief when you are no longer breastfeeding. Carrying a diaper bag around is not easy but you'll get used to it with time.
The important thing is mommy and baby are happy. Looks like you have her feeding nicely planned out. Kisses to her.

    1. Thanks sis!I shall scatter her with those kisses.

  3. You are doing great and your baby is really cute and looks well fed. I faced the same challenge when my son was born and I did a lot of experimenting including spending funds unnecessarily...Once your baby is 6 months, do continue with breastfeeding and complement with other meals like local cereals; maize, guinea corn, millet with milk, groundnut (check for allergies first)and soya (can be a challenge for the baby if not well prepared). Okro soup with mashed potatoes (irish/sweet), mashed plantain are really good. Fruits are also very essential. Be very patient and one food at a time. 1. Thank you so much Jayne.I definitely will try local cereals.Lucky for me my next door neighbor makes them.I'm heading over to your blog now.

  4. God is your strength. I think exclusive is great, but I don't think it compulsory biko. You've even tried after 5 months! So well done. The one thing I think of is how I don't personally like baby food (formulas), so I can't help my kids finish theirs, and so they must finish it. Hehehehe. This looks like an exciting phase! Looking forward.
